A new method for automatic layer selection in hallucination detection for large language models has been proposed, which significantly improves detection performance without additional training costs. The First Effective Peak of Intrinsic Dimension (FEPoID) criterion outperforms existing methods and is accompanied by a truncation strategy that enhances signal detection.
